Ready, Set...get healthy!
Now that the team who 'could not be named'...has remembered what to do out on the football field, I can wear my sweatshirt out in public again without being stopped for condolences. And my kids won't give me too much more grief about how their team was still in the winning column without being publicly embarrassed. Thank goodness!
I finished two of the things on needles. Well, two from the picture that I posted the other day. I don't think I'd be wise to show you how many I don't have finished all together. I'd have to stop starting things. Or getting ideas on how I should be making this or that or the other for son or daughters or parents...or or or... You get the idea, right? (har har har) (and let's not forget, there are still a 'few' baby blankets that need to be worked up as well. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)
Couldn't find some brassy rose buttons, but thought this little bird house would be cute here.
And I finished the second hat to go with the first red and white one for Little Miss "B"s grandpas. Hope they like them!
Now to really see how fast my needles can click. This is going to be for my Dad. Yep...he's back in the hospital! Can you believe it? He just went home last week on Wednesday, stayed there for 6 days and wham. Right back in! This time for a blockage. I tell you, it's always something. I keep telling him that a skein of yarn and a pair of needles would be a MUCH cheaper hobby than testing every room in the hospital and each Doctor's skills in town! GRRRRRRRRRRR...
While he was home, one of the things that's bothering him now is getting chilled. His circulation still isn't up to snuff yet. My guess is it's from the combination of chemo, radiation, his kidney not working, having been in bed for 12 days in the hospital, and not being able to walk his regular 5 miles at the mall. While he was home he was really feeling the cabin fever, too. I kept telling him that once he gets back to walking with his buddies he's going to feel much better. No sooner had he been ready to get over there to visit while Mom walked, and wham-o, back to his nurses he went.
Thank goodness they have health insurance!
I've spent my knitting time today finishing up that last hat, weaving in ends and sewing on a button before I wound up the grey wool to be certain that there are no knots. Nope, not a one! Hallelujah! 6 skeins, not a single knot. It's a good feeling! And after all the cotton I've been working with, it felt great to start with the wool again.
Now that we had our first measurable rain since April here in Southern California over night, it's time to go back to working with wool. The pattern is Man's Cabled Golf Vest from the June, 2007 issue of Knit "N Style. I'm using Paton's Classic Wool in the Dark Grey Mix. For a change, the local Michael's store had enough in one dye lot! I didn't have to go to multiple stores to get what I needed.
Ready, set, Knit! HEY DAD!!! READY, SET....GO HOME AND BE HEALTHY!!!!! PLEASE???
